Emergency call-outs, tree felling and removal, crown reduction and pruning, stump grinding, hedge work, and commercial site clearance — across Wigston, Leicester and the surrounding Leicestershire towns and villages. Domestic gardens make up most of the work; the rest is estates, schools, housing associations and development sites.
Our qualifications
Every operative holds current NPTC / City & Guilds certificates of competence for the tickets the job needs — chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting (CS30), felling and processing (CS31), climbing and aerial rescue (CS38), aerial cutting (CS39), and where the work calls for it, MEWP operation and chipper tickets. Aerial rescue currency matters more than people realise: if a climber is injured at height, the ground team has minutes, not hours.
We will show you the certificates. Ask. Anyone who hesitates should not be in your garden.
BS3998:2010 — and what it rules out
British Standard 3998:2010 is the recommendation for tree work in the UK. It governs how cuts are made, how much of a crown can safely be removed, and how a tree's biology is respected so it can compartmentalise the wound and stay healthy.
In practice, working to BS3998 rules out the two things that generate most of the complaints in this trade: topping — cutting a crown back to stubs, which triggers weakly-attached epicormic regrowth and lets decay into the trunk — and flush cutting, where a branch is cut hard against the trunk, removing the branch collar the tree needs to seal the wound. Both look tidy on the day. Both cost you a tree.
Insurance and waste
We carry £10 million public liability and employer's liability, and the certificates go out before work starts, not after you chase them. Under your legal duty of care you are responsible for where your garden waste ends up, so ask any contractor for their Environment Agency registration number before they drive away with it.
Everything we take away is recycled: brash to woodchip for landscaping and biomass, cordwood to firewood, larger timber milled where it is worth milling.

Free site visit, written quote, fixed price. The specification is written in BS3998 terms so you can put it next to another contractor's and actually compare them. If we find something on the day that changes the job — buried masonry under a stump, decay we could not see from the ground — we stop and talk to you before anything moves.
Ash dieback in Leicestershire
Chalara ash dieback is the defining arboricultural issue in this county and will be for years. Ash was one of the commonest hedgerow, boundary and garden trees here, and infected trees become brittle in a way that does not follow the usual rules — they fail without the visual warning a decaying tree normally gives, which makes them dangerous both to leave and to climb.
If you have ash within falling distance of a house, a road, a footpath or a boundary, get it looked at annually. Once crown loss passes roughly half, climbing is generally off the table and the tree has to come down from a MEWP or be dismantled remotely — which costs substantially more. Acting early is not upselling; it is the cheaper option.
